Background The Qiantang River Bridge (Qiantangjiang Bridge) near Hangzhou was completed in 1937. The bridge was designed by Mao Yisheng, a Chinese structural engineer and an expert on bridge construction. It was the first dual-purpose road-and-railway bridge designed and built by China.

Largest span timber arch bridge
The main structure of a timber arch bridge, with one of the world's largest single spans at up to 75.7 meters, has been completed in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, Oct 30.
The bridge across the Xujiang River, an ancient canal, is 120 meters in length. The construction of the bridge used a total of 400 cubic meters of wood. The bridge is being tested and is expected to be completed before the end of this year.>>>
