We have two feelings at this very sad moment: one is the tremendous sadness and grief for the dead and the other is the admiration for the way the Chinese government has reacted to the disaster. The rescue teams are acting as one, so I believe China will succeed in this difficult situation.

As a good friend to China, Romania dispatched a seven-people medical team to Chengdu last Wednesday. The group has helped rescue 600 children already. The Peruvian government set May 19 as a national mourning day for Chinese earthquake victims and the Peruvian flag was lowered to half-mast on that day in government, military and public buildings around the country and at its overseas missions.
