BEIJING -- The following is a biographical sketch of Lu Yongxiang, who was elected vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) on Saturday: Lu Yongxiang Male, born in April 1942, ethnic Han, native of Cixi of Zhejiang Province. Joined Communist Party of China (CPC) in May 1974. Started working in September 1964. Graduated from Machinery Department of Zhejiang University, obtained doctorate in Engineering Science at Aachen Industrial University, Federal Republic of Germany. Postgraduate education, doctorate degree, professorship, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).
