Special: Girl's tragedy exposes trust crisis

 

Following are the selected comments about Yue Yue's death on Weibo, China's mirco-blog.

Yang Lan (Talk Show Hostess): She never caused harm to anyone, but has got so hurt. It (the tragedy) is the pain of her family, and a shame on society. Now she is finally free of the pain.

Li Chengpeng (Author): A two-year-old girl run over in street in Libya is a "tragedy caused by war", a "result of failed struggle against life". In our country people debate over indifference passer-by, ruthless drivers, guilty parents, law loopholes, etc. The government then stands up and condemns those who disregard life and compliment those who lend a hand. Then the street is back to normal and the children keep dying.

Sun Yang (Swimming Athlete): There is no traffic jam in heaven. Yue Yue, please have a safe trip there. I wish there is more love and less apathy, and mishaps are away from those kind-hearted for life.

Liu Xiaoqing (Actress): Another innocent life is gone. She is so young, just in the first chapter of life. I am so sorry about that.

Han Qiaosheng (Soccer commentator): I was motivated by a lawyer's words: "Imprisonment of those who turn away from saving a life should be written into the law". I cannot agree any more. The driver should have his legal responsibilities pursued; otherwise society is without any future.
