The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee held a meeting on Friday on the implementation of the spirit of the just concluded 18th CPC National Congress.

The meeting was presided over by CPC Central Committee General Secretary Xi Jinping. The Party unveiled a new leadership lineup for the next five years on Thursday.

A statement released after the meeting described the 18th CPC National Congress, held from Nov 8-14, as "an extremely important meeting convened at the decisive stage of completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects".

It went on to add that learning, promoting and implementing the essence of the congress concerns the work of the Party and the country and the lasting development of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics. It said this is of great significance in completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and winning new victories of socialism with Chinese characteristics under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi as general secretary.

The statement added that the foremost political task is to focus the minds of the Party, the nation and people of all ethnic groups on the spirit of the congress and meet the various tasks and goals that have been set by the congress. This will be done through learning, promoting and implementing the spirit of the congress, the statement added.

The meeting called for efforts to study the documents of the 18th CPC National Congress, including the work report of the 17th CPC Central Committee and the Party's Constitution.

The meeting also called for grasping the congress's significance, the historical achievements made by the CPC over the past five to 10 years, the historical role and guiding function of the Scientific Outlook on Development, the meaning of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the goal of completing the building of a moderately prosperous society and deepening reform and opening-up in all respects.

It also called for a deeper understanding of socialist economic, political, cultural, social and ecological construction and the important task of improving Party building.

Officials and the people should follow the spirit of the congress by intensifying training and publicity in workplaces, villages, government departments, schools and communities, the statement said.

Learning the spirit of the congress should be combined with the actual conditions of work in respective regions and workplaces, it said.

The newly amended CPC Constitution reflects the fruit of the Party's theoretical innovation and the development of experimentation, important theories and views, guidelines and policies and work arrangements set by the congress and the requirements of adhering to and improving the CPC leadership and strengthening Party building, said the statement.

The meeting called for diligently studying and strictly abiding by the CPC Constitution.
