The Beijing No 1 Intermediate People's Court rejected an appeal against a village committee's decision to deprive a family of welfare for breaching the family planning policy.

The plaintiffs, Zhang Xueying and Wang Shuli, are divorcees with children from previous marriages. They later married each other.

The village committee of Fengshan in Changping district learned that Zhang was pregnant in April 2006.
