First half profits increase 19.6% on stronger economy, lower prices

The machinery industry's first-half profits jumped 19.6 percent year-on-year to 715.3 billion yuan ($115.8 billion) as the economy improved, costs fell and companies upgraded their products, the China Machinery Industry Federation said on Tuesday.

The growth rate was 7 percentage points higher than a year earlier.
