Dai Shihe's paintings demonstrate a passion for color and an interest in nature and daily life. Over the years the 69-year-old has journeyed across the country when he has no classes at Beijing's Central Academy of Fine Arts where he is a professor.

His ongoing exhibition titled Paint as I Want, at the National Art Museum of China through Sunday, features oil works that depict landscapes and people he meets while traveling.

He communicates his understanding of Chinese aesthetics via lines and vibrant colors.
