" Langfang offers for investors a city of different taste, compared to nearing metropolis of Beijing and Tianjin", said Langfang mayor Wang Xianguo on Monday.

Wang said this  to a group of news website journalists  coming to the  city after concluding a brief visit to Shijiazhuang and Baoding, the top two important cities in North China's Hebei Province.

Langfang, a city about 40 kilometers east to Beijing and 150 kilometers west to China's third biggest city of Tianjin,  has a relative small population of 400,000 and tout a much better living environment than the two giant cities resting nearby.

" Our aim is to build the Langfang city among woods", said Langfang mayor. " We hope to provide our citizens and investors a city environmentally cleaner and traffically more convenient than Beijing and Tianjin."

 " We will strictly stick to the tenet of our city construction, shutting the door to projects of high power-consuming and high pollution".

 Wang said he compensated a 400-million project from a Beijing dyeing company this year in order to protect local environment and make it more competitive to projects which are environment-friendly.

Environment, science&education and travelling, according to the mayor, will be the three characters of Langfang, which has shown its advantage against Beijing and Tianjin.

Langfang, a young and energetic city which is less plagued by lay-off workers and agriculture problems, is said by the mayor to reach a well-off living standard by 2005
