Court rejects 'capitalist'

A law graduate has had his suit against the Shanghai Municipal Industrial
& Commercial Administration rejected by the Xuhui People's Court, which
agreed that he could not register a company name with the word "capitalist" in
the title, Shanghai Morning Post reports.
In early April, Lu, who recently graduated with a law degree from a
prestigious university, prepared the documents to register his company under the
name "Shanghai Capitalists Competitiveness Consultancy Co Ltd".
Both the Pudong Industrial & Commercial Administration Bureau and that of
Shanghai refused to grant the application.
Lu then sued the Shanghai administration, insisting that the meaning of the
word "capitalist" had changed to refer to entrepreneurship in the broadest
sense.
But the court ruled it was misleading to use the word, as the public still
widely associated it with the more conventional meaning, and rejected Lu's
request.
