Cave-house cluster is nation's largest ( 2003-11-04 17:14) (China Daily)
China's largest cave-house cluster is in Yan'an, Shaanxi Province. The cluster of 698 cave-houses covers a total of 29,000 square metres. Cave-houses are common in China's Loess Plateau where they are built into the earth to take advantage of the local terrain. The homes' unique structure keeps them warm in winter and cool in summer.
