A charity sale in which residents and organizations bringing in worn Chinese national flags may buy new ones at a discount began yesterday, reports Beijing News.

The special sale will last until the Lunar New Year.

Anyone buying new flags may write their wishes for the national flag and their names on the old flags, the paper said.

Proceeds from the sale will be donated to 19 needy university students in the Xuanwu District.
