Antibiotics can harm aged, kids

Senior citizens and children are the main victims of the over-prescription of
antibiotics as learned from the centre that supervises negative reactions to
medication in Shanghai, Shanghai Evening Post reports.
The centre reported 248 cases of bad reactions to medicines caused by the
excessive use of antibiotics in the first half of this year. More than 60 per
cent of the victims were children younger than 10 or adults over 50.
As physiological functions in these people are either immature or
deteriorating, they should avoid using antibiotics that are processed through
the liver or kidneys.
While antibiotics can cure disease, they can also have negative side effects,
experts cautioned
