South Africa's Mbeki sworn in for second term

Mbeki was sworn in on Tuesday for a second five-year term in office at a
glittering ceremoy doubling as the country's 10th anniversary of the end of
apartheid white rule.
Anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela, South Africa's first black president,
joined some 100 foreign dignitaries at the ceremony on the grounds of Union
Building, the seat of power in Pretoria.
Mbeki and his African National Congress, in power since 1994, won a landslide
victory in South Africa's third democratic election on April
14.
