minutes silence on Wednesday with mass tributes at airports, railway
stations, supermarkets, factories and offices in memory of the tens of
thousands who died in Asia's tsunami disaster. [Reuters]

Thais and foreigners take part in a mass
prayer for tsunami victims on the Thai resort island of Phuket January 5,
2005. Buddhists, Muslims and Christians joined together on Wednesday to
light 10,000 candle lanterns in a memorial to the thousands who died in
Thailand in the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster. More than 1,000
saffron-robed Buddhist monks chanted prayers for the dead after Christian
and Muslim leaders paid their own respects in a sunset ceremony at a
soccer stadium in the southern Thai resort town of Phuket.
