DPRK not to resume 6-party talks now The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Saturday said that there is no justification now to hold one-to-one bilateral talks with the United States on the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula. "Because that the United States insisted its hostile policy toward the DPRK and refused to co-exist with the DPRK and persisted to switchover the DPRK's regime, the DPRK has no justification to take bilateral talks by one-to-one on the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula with the United States now," a spokesman of the DPRK's Foreign Ministry told Xinhua.
"Now, what the things developed ulteriorly tell us that the DPRK's desire of taking bilateral talks by one-to-one on the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula with the United States has been crashed, it is totally created by the United States," said the spokesman. The spokesman also reiterated DPRK's stand to suspend its participation in the six-party talks for an indefinite period that was declared by the Foreign Ministry on Feb. 10, adding that "the unchanged US hostile policy toward the DPRK is the direct reason for the DPRK's statement." The spokesman said that the country's position to solve the nuclear issue through dialogue and negotiations and its ultimate goal to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula remain unchanged. The spokesman did not comment on the impact of the Feb. 10 announcement on the six-party talks, but praised China's active efforts in establishing and maintaining the mechanism of the six-party talks. The six-party talks, aimed at solving the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula, involves China, the DPRK, the United States, Russia, South Korea and Japan. |
