Gong Ruina quits national team Former world champion Gong Ruina has decided to leave the Chinese national badminton squad.
The decision came after the International Badminton Federation's latest announcement of not granting wildcards at the World Championships. The veteran shuttler had been plagued by injuries since the Athens Olympiad and was left out from the upcoming World Championships. Therefore, she decided to leave the national team. However, her native Hunan provincial team was not previously aware of her decision. They hoped she would reconsider her decision and remain on the national squad.
