So you've just found out that you will be expecting a new baby, congratulations! But sooner or later, you are going to need a maternity wardrobe. Where do you start?
The good news is that the days of the maternity tent dress are over. This year's celebrity baby boom has meant that the "bump" is now the hot new fashion accessory. With style divas like Sarah Jessica Parker and Claudia Schiffer, proudly sporting expanded bellies. Remember, you don't lose your sense of style just because your proportions change.
Before you head down to 'mom to be' street (Changle Lu) bear in mind the maternity essentials. A twin set, you feel warmer during pregnancy so layering is the key. If you peel off a layer, a matching set will keep you looking chic. The classic T-shirt will go with everything, but make sure there's a bit of stretch in the material so it will grow with you. Slim-fitting skirts are more flattering than full skirts; if you're short go for a knee-length hemline and if you're tall, try a mid-calf line. A black dress is essential, just because you're pregnant doesn't mean this timeless and classic fashion staple is off-limits, it'll take you anywhere.
Last but not least, you need to think about accessories, you can really punch up an outfit with a colorful scarf, chunky necklace, funky shoes or hip handbag. You can stretch (no pun intended) the budget more here, because you know you can always wear these after the birth.
