Mr. Bush: "Pack the spies up and bring them home"
T.P.Jackstraw  Updated: 2004-04-03 09:18

Three years since the American spy-plane incident. A sad day, the loss of a good man's life. Why did George find it so hard to apologize? Because he just didn't know. Know what? Well, not the details, which really are not so important, except to say that for CD's version, I will simply reply, hmpph!

Know what the incident means? It means that China deserves the respect, it just isn't getting. Spy planes, rhetoric, arms sales, etc., etc., are all out of line. Significant is that God saved the innocent crew of the spy-plane, who sought and received care from the very folks that they were spying on. This has a greater significance than most seem to grasp.

To China, it means take the high road with the US, don't look for trouble, now is the time for your sincere desire for friendship. The long-suffering Chinese people have a heart that is as great as the world itself, and the whole world needs your healing medicine. China has withheld its warm embrace for far too long.

To the US it means even your spies are cared for by the very people you can never understand through a spy lens! Change your attitude, Mr. Bush -- the approach to China that you inherited is upside down. Spies look for all of the wrong things, they do not report the desire and the hope of a people and a nation whose subtle and gentle way just is not so obvious from the lens of spyglass. Pack the spies up and bring them home. Stop inciting Taiwan and tell Japan to behave, we don't need their empire either!

Sometimes in the course of events, the brave are compelled to act.

Though the loss of brave Wang Wei is a very costly note to the world, he left us all with an icon of reality. Blind and ignorant distrust and its perturbational distaste and disrespect are not tolerable! The Chinese do not deserve to be treated this way!

My President should have come to China and apologized to the faces of Wang Wei's family; my sincere apology to his family, won't bring him back or help his family cope with his loss, but I do wish them to know, I understand the great sacrifice, and what it really means.

The cost to his loved ones is just too high of a price to have paid. The world lost a good brave man, Wang Wei.

My sincerest apologies,
an American
