He is expected to appear in Tokyo to accept a "Legend Award" from MTV Japan.
The King of Pop is taking part in the award ceremony on Friday. It will be the first part of what his spokeswoman is calling a tour of Asia.
Jackson is scheduled to visit Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong. He has been living in Bahrain since his acquittal last June on child molestation charges.
