Madonna to raise $3 mln for Malawi's orphans

Updated: 2006-08-05 12:34  Madonna will visit Africa in October and plans to raise at least 3
million US dollars for programs to support orphans in Malawi.
She'll also donate 1 million US dollars from her personal funds to make a
documentary on the plight of children in the AIDS-ravaged African country.
The resourceful star is famed for her ability to reinvent herself.
Now it looks like she's recast herself as a humanitarian worker in Malawi,
launching a new program to improve health, agriculture and economy in one of the
country's villages.
She's also met with former US President Bill Clinton on bringing low-cost
medicines to the area.
Madonna is a devout follower of Kabbalah and says it instructs everyone in
the world to help others, people need to know what they can do to help and keep
their promises.
