According to reports, small apartments with one or two rooms have been very popular among tenants, and the residential rents in the city have increased by 5%-10%.
According to most real estate agents in the city, although rents have gone up, small apartments are still in short supply at present.
"The best time to rent a house in Xiamen is at the end of each year when the supply of houses jumps, a time when it’s also easier for lodgers to make a satisfactory bargain with the landlords,” a property manager in Xiamen said.
