A clear starry night over the Pingtan county in Fujian province as photographed by Weng Wucai. Capturing such images requires demanding conditions including a clear, moonless sky and a 20-km visibility range. The photographer is supposed to have basic knowledge of astronomy and geography as he/she has to calculate the movement of the stars and even the direction of the wind. “There are about two or three days in a month that are suitable for taking such night sky photos,” he said.
