Pingnan enhances pension insurance

According to the bureau of human resources and social security of Pingnan county, Fujian province, from July 1 onward, family members of people who have joined social security but pass away during the period when they can receive their pension can get 20 months of mortuary subsidy at one time, totaling 1,100 yuan ($178.30). The amount is in accordance with the annual basic pension standard.

Meanwhile, as the county’s supplementary regulations of social pension of urban residents states, from January 1 onward, Pingnan will raise the standard subsidy provided by the government. The annual pension will rise from 30-35 yuan per capita to 30-75, with the ceiling increased by 25 yuan. Moreover, rural residents who have not joined the new agricultural insurance plan, or urban residents over 60 who joined the urban social insurance plan before 60, can enjoy a 55 yuan basic pension monthly if they register and pay the insurance before December 31, 2014.

Since the social pension went into effect in 2011, more than 70,000 people have joined, including 19,642 urban residents. After the supplementary regulations were published, the annual fiscal expenditure of Pingnan is expected to increase by nearly 1 million yuan.
