Fujian deputies hail China's govt report

Fujian delegation to the third plenary session of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC) held an internal conference on March 7 to review the country's government report for 2014.

The followings are some of the deputies' remarks in the report:

Huang Xiaojing: China has seen steady progress in spite of pressure from the economic downturn last year, with local governments in Fujian enforcing environmental laws, dealing with illegal emissions and contamination and pushing energy-saving and emerging industries.

Ye Shuangyu: biggest major characteristic of the report is its pragmatism and I’m all for it. Last year I gave suggestions on tax rebates for exporters that was noticed by the Finance Ministry. This year, my proposals are about delegating more administrative power lower down, paying more attention to grassroots people, enterprises and the market, increasing work efficiency and intradepartmental cooperation.

Zhang Zhinan: the report mentions “letting finances flow to the real economy”, which is vital to steady growth, innovation, and industrial change. For this, we must first, increase confidence and credit records, second, increase loans to boost the real economy, and third, encourage innovation in financial products and guarantees.

Xu Qian: we ought to make sure that all the State Council favorable policies are implemented to actually benefit the enterprises.

Su Zengtian: the report’s economic goals involve scientific calculation and adapted to development and it provides solutions to public problems so I suggest the authorities pay more attention to people with difficulties seeing a doctor, improving rural health, and increasing subsidies to villages and towns in remote areas.

Liu Keqing: spending more on railways and large water projects will lay a solid foundation for sustainable growth and boosts consumer spending. The report calls for bettering lives and social development and sets a goal for fighting pollution, with all of society involved.

Chen Xiurong: I think government needs to increase monitoring of the labor market, get rid of sexual discrimination in employment and provide better services for women, children and households and give extra care to children who are left behind by migrant-worker parents.

Ma Xinlang: China should continue its reforms carefully amid an economic downturn to make sure all people enjoy the benefits and continue to promote government by law.
