The Pingtan leg of the 2012-13 Kiteboard Tour Asia season will kick off on May 9, with 120 players from 30 countries and regions participating in the five-day event, Pingtan Times reported in Pingtan county, Fujian province.

According to schedule, most contestants have arrived in Pingtan and checked in on April 6 and 7. On April 8, Di Dahui, president of the Pingtan Kiteboard Association, and Neil Godbold, KTA’s founding director, will sign a cooperation deal. An opening ceremony will be held at Longfengtou Bathing Beach on Thursday morning, May 9.

The KTA was formed to create an international platform to display the skill and talent of kiteboarders throughout Asia, and to bring professional level competition and training to the region. Pingtan joined the tour last September and successfully hosted one part of the event.
