A video clip of a starry sky over Pingtan county, east China's Fujian province, has gone viral online and has attracted a flurry of comments from netizens.

Accompanied by soothing background music, the starry night sky appears with dreamy clouds, hills, reefs and the sea, generating an aesthetic visual effect for audiences. The one-minute video was forwarded thousands of times on weibo within 24 hours of being uploaded.

Lin Zheng, producer of the video, sat down with Pingtan.gov.cn, the official website of the county government on Tuesday to share the production process.

Lin is a wedding photographer in his early 20s with four years of professional photography experience. He said the idea of taking photos of the starry night sky came when he was admiring clouds during sunset in Fuzhou on the evening of July 7. He then rented a car and drove all the way to Xianren Well, a scenic spot in Pingtan.

"I was feeling the wind and gazing upon the stars, resting on reefs. It felt so great that I decided to capture the sky scene," said Lin.

The spur of the moment cost him the whole night, as he had to switch places back and forth, as well as set multiple angles from two cameras. He finished the shooting at around 5:30 am on the early morning of July 8.

But it was a worthwhile investment, said Lin, adding that he will come to Pingtan for more creative pursuits in the future.
