Minister of Finance Lou Jiwei visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone of Fujian province on August 13, with the aim of inspecting its implementation of fiscal and taxation polices.

During Lou's visit, the governor of Fujian, Su Shulin, said that the establishment in 2010 of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, the mainland's first economic pilot zone opening up to Taiwan, was a matter of great importance for the central government and the State Council, adding that Pingtan has the potential for further opening up and development.

Su also said that Pingtan has received much valuable support from the Finance Ministry, and that he hopes the ministry will continue to explore ways to implement policies that will assist Pingtan's development.

Lou said that Pingtan has made great achievements over the past three years, due to its proximity to Taiwan giving it an advantage in trade, and its good prospects for development, nurturing of industry and exploration modes.

He added that the Finance Ministry aims to accelerate the implementation of favorable policies for Pingtan, in support of its development.
