More than 2,000 families in three communities in the county of Pingtan, Fujian province, can now receive HDTV service, the Pingtan Times reported on September 12.

The local TV station started digital TV transformation on August 17 so as to provide residents with high-definition signals, and the service is expected to cover seven communities by the end of the year.
