More than 1,000 mainland tourists arrived by train in Pingtan on Sept 23 ahead of their tour to Taiwan on the Haixia.
The company that owns the high-speed passenger ferry that regularly commutes between Pingtan county in Fujian province and Taichung city in Taiwan, said that the ferry is also set to offer trips to Taipei.
The Haixia, a high-speed passenger ferry sailing between Pingtan in Fujian and Taichung in Taiwan, went on a trial voyage to Taipei on May 15
The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council sent a congratulatory message to mark the first anniversary of the Haixia ferry.
A high-speed passenger liner across the Taiwan Straits has carried more than 100,000 people since it began operation in November 2011.
To mark the first anniversary of the maiden voyage of the Haixia, a new fast ferry embarked on its inaugural trip on Nov 29, marking anefficient and luxurious addition to that sea route.
