Tourists can overlook Zhangye Danxia landform by helicopter

Tourists are now able to overlook the colorful Danxia landform in Zhangye city, in Gansu province by helicopter, said the Gansu Provincial Highway Aviation Tourism Investment Group Co.

According to official statistics, 365 visitors have tried helicopter sightseeing in Zhangye since the helicopter started operation over the National Day holiday, and it has made 286,800 yuan ($45,171) of revenue.

The Danxia scenic area is a popular destination known as "Rainbow Mountains" for its multicolored cliffs. The helicopter can carry three adults and one child at a time.

The Enstrom Helicopter 480B carried out the sightseeing flight under cooperation between Gansu Provincial Highway Aviation Tourism Investment and China Flight Test Establishment, said a leader of the program.

The new form of sightseeing debuted in Gansu for the first time and it marks a step up for the province's general aviation.
