On September 15th (local time), the dam of Rudbar Lorestan hydropower station constructed by CGGC was completed. The beginning of the second generator set assembly signifies that the project to build this hydropower station with a total generating capacity of 450MW will officially proceed into the preliminary phase for installed power generation after the first impounding. The related celebration activity was attended by Iran's minister of energy Hamid Chitchian and CGGC's executive assistant Liu Canxue as well as their government officials and industry representatives.
Iran's minister of energy Hamid Chitchian positively evaluated CGGC's high standard and strong quality manifested in the construction of Rudbar Lorestan project in his speech. He said that Chinese companies did not only bring about capital and technology but also contributed to public good and actively undertook social responsibilities, which arouse Iranian people's appreciation. Minister Chitchian expressed his gratitude to CGGC for its support and giving for Rudbar Lorestan hydropower station, believing that Iran will provide more hydroelectric projects in need of Chinese enterprises' participation.
Liu Canxue agreed that CGGC had carried out extensive cooperation with local companies in areas such as water conservancy, power and new energy since its entry in Iran in 2001. Especially, Rudbar Lorestan hydropower project, good model of mutual cooperation, has helped the local government gain abundant tax revenue and made surrounding cities and towns more dynamic economically by employing nearly 2000 persons. He believes this hydroelectric project will create more economic benefit for local people once upon going into production. In the future, CGGC would like to combine with Iranian industry companies to intensify cooperation and achieve win-win result according to the framework of co-working for the “Belt and Road” initiative.
Rudbar Lorestan hydropower station sits on Rudbar river along Zagros Mountain in Lorestan Province of north Iran. This station came into construction in April, 2011 with a total investment of RMB4 billion. All of electromechanical whole-set facilities and metal structures are made in China, accounting for half of the total project price.
The main engineering of Rudbar Lorestan hydropower station contains a 153-meter-high clay core rock-filled dam, an open spillway and two 3.4-kilometer-long water diversion systems. Simultaneously constructed as auxiliary facilities are generator sets, ground planthouse and enclosed switching station. The impounding of this dam is planned to finish by the end of this year when the first generator set with single-machine capacity of 225MW will be connected onto the power grid. Both generator units with single-machine capacity of 225MW (each) will be put into service in March, 2017, whose generating capacity amounts to 450MW in total.
