By mid-December, the Xiajian River in Guangxi coldly flows its way through the green mountains until transforming into the Longjiang River in Guizhou and finally emptying into the Pearl River Delta.

Sometimes referred to as the Linjiang River, the source of Xiajian River begins in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county.

Stretching 151 kilometers and with drainage of 1,584 sq km, the river can be more than 100 meters wide at points along its course, hitting a depth of 10.55 meters.

Xiajian River is also where Liu Sanjie -- a famous Guangxi folk singer -- sand and spread her folk tales, and was also the location for the shooting of a film based on her life.
