Guizhou will implement an essential medicine system in urban residential communities that are short of government-funded community-level medical and health institutions. Guizhou will also strive to ensure every community will have medical and health institutions covered by the essential medicine system by 2015, said the general office of the Guizhou provincial government.
All the governments at various levels in Guizhou should give full compensation to basic public health services provided by non-government funded community-level medical and health institutions. All qualified non-government funded community-level medical and health institutions should be permitted to be included in the medical insurance system, the Essential Medicine System Optimization and New Community-Level Operation Mechanism Implementation Plan issued by Guizhou stated.
All essential medicine will be examined randomly, and the electronic medicine monitoring system will be improved to better monitor the process of production and circulation of essential medicine. Producing and selling counterfeit medicine will be severely punished, the implementation plan noted.
