Kids living in remote areas of China seldom have the chance to receive treatment for cleft lip and palate. But there is hope, thanks to a group of overseas surgeons, for kids in Weining autonomous county, Guizhou province.
The international medical corporation Smile League, based in the USA, will help the kids in Weining with cleft lip and palate from March 24 to April 5.
During the period, 113 kids with this physical defect can receive surgery.
"I hope to see my kid smiling just like the others,” said the mother of a kid who was born with the physical defect.
Smile League from the USA signed a five-year agreement with the Guizhou provincial government in 2012. They will give free surgeries to kids with cleft lip and palate in poor families.
Smile League has developed public welfare services in more than 10 provinces in China, and hundreds of kids from Zunyi and Bijie of Guizhou province have already received treatment.
