What differentiates the town’s new mountain tourism model from its previous one is that broad green spaces will form a large camping base, rather than just a park. According to the construction plan, more than 5 million square meters will be reserved to form an outdoor mountain sports experience zone, thermal spring theme resort center, minority nationality residential district and traditional handicraft exhibitions, among other facilities.
Among the most attractive aspects of the Sancha River Valley project is the development of Nakong village, located at the northeast bank of the lake. Years ago, it was an original Bouyei village and lacked modern infrastructure. In 2008, as weekend leisure trips became popular, several households there started to run Bouyei restaurant business on their farms.
However, such rough business patterns cannot last for a long time. After several years, with the help and support from the local government, modern infrastructure was built, including the expansion of a narrow road. Currently, Nakong has been given the title of a progressive civilized village in the Qianxinan autonomous prefecture. Recently, an increasing number of tourists have expressed an interest in experiencing local cultures and customs close up. Hence, Nakong village is taking advantage of that to develop infrastructures and extend its featured tourism products.
Brand new buildings, activity squares and agriculture experience facilities have been constructed, presenting Nakong village’s hospitality. Bike rental services are located at the entrance to allow people to ride through the village and former farms have been rebuilt to form a uniform facade. Bouyei’s national symbols such as millstones, threshers and spinning machines can be seen in every corner of the village, adding an attractive garnish to its image. .
Years ago, my parents and I usually walked to Nakong village and Sancha River Valley after dinner. However, every time we would return home quickly after looking around, because it was hard to find any more reason to stay out other than for sightseeing. On the contrary, today, my parents and I are completely exhausted after walking half around the new district; such is the wealth of attractions on offer. In the evening, we often decide to drive back.
On the way back to Zhenfeng county, I fell asleep and dreamed a lot. In my childhood, my grandmother followed me walked on the country trail to enjoy the beautiful view. Today, my mother follows me on the same trail and enjoys the same landscape. How time flies! The country trails mother and I walked are still there. The ridges and wells near the road have not moved. But today’s Zhexiang has been totally refreshed.
As the operation of mountain tourism demonstration district, Sancha River Valley international camping base, and the development planning of “A Thousand Households--Bouyei Village”, there will be a characterized trend of tourism upgrading and innovating inside and outside the Guizhou province.
“The river water is just like the fluid glances of beauty, the mountain is as she frowning slightly, wondering where the friends intend to go, right over the place where amorous feelings hide between the belle’s eyebrows”. As described in a poem written by Wang Guan, today’s Zhexiang is exactly such a place with mountain, river and amorous feelings. With so many cultural history and excellent scenery, a brand new Zhexiang is worth waiting.
