Hubei's textile industry has accelerated product replacement and continued the momentum of rapid growth despite difficulties including cost increases and a volatile cotton price.
Driven by market demand and industrial transfer, the textile industry has made significant contributions to the industrial growth of the province, the Hubei Economy and Information Technology Commission said. Hubei’s textile industry completed an increase value of 54.68 billion yuan, with the growth rate reaching 22.8 percent compared with 14.3 percent in 2011. The clothing industry saw a growth rate of 33.9 percent, contributing 54.4 percent to the industrial growth. The textile and chemical fiber industries grew by 18.8 percent and 27.9 percent respectively.
The output of cloth and yarn rose by 52 percent and 26.1 percent respectively, while garment production increased by 57 percent.
