Some 10,000 Baotou residents gathered at Baotou Olympic Center for a weekly walking and cycling event on July 1, reports Baotou Daily.

Hosted by the sports bureau of Baotou, the event is in its 11th session.

“More than 300 members of our cycling club joined this event,” said a participant who has long been a fan of cycling and is pleased to witness the popularization of the sport.

Selected as one of the pilot cities for health promotion, Baotou has been engaged in developing its health industry. The city launched a weekly “brisk walk” activity which started on April 22 to promote residents’ awareness of fitness and healthy living.
