Suzhou was hit by a heat wave last weekend inspiring hundreds of people to visit the “Small Maldives” lakeside recreation area at Taihu Lake National Wetland Park.

The only summer resort next to a natural lake – Taihu Lake in Suzhou’s hi-tech industrial development zone is also known as “Small Maldives”. It covers an area of 20,000 square meters and is the biggest natural lakeside resort in Suzhou.

This year, the park provided discount tickets and new entertaining water projects, attracting many citizens and tourists, said one park employee. The event “Wonderful Journey to Taihu Wetland,” also known as “Big Yellow Duck’s Amazing Summer Adventure,” began June 29 and will run through September 1.
