Nantong Zhenhua Heavy Equipment Manufacturing Co Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co Ltd, which is the world's largest container machinery manufacturing company and also one of the first innovative enterprises in China. It boasts a great research and development capacity owing to its technical center, technical research center of national marine lifting and pipe lay equipment, and the post-doctoral research workstation.

Founded in August 2006, Nantong Zhenhua is an independent legal enterprise with 1.08 billion yuan registered capital. It was rated as a high and new tech enterprise in Jiangsu Province in 2009,

Three bases have been formed since its establishment, namely, Nantong Base, Heavy Gear Box Base and Big Nantong Base, all of which possess world-class advanced manufacturing equipment. With the largest scale and the most advanced technology in Asia, the heavy-duty gear box manufacturing plant has become a research and development base for the company to enter the market of important maritime accessories (such as large anchor capstan, dynamic positioning, key transmission equipment of pipe laying ship). The main products are port machinery products, large steel bridges, gantry cranes, marine floating cranes, wind power installation vessels, platform lifting system manufacturing, dynamic positioning thruster, large anchor capstans, and key transmission equipment for pipe laying ship.

A municipal engineering and technical research center, technical centers in the enterprise and technical innovation team have also been set up in Nantong Zhenhua. It has 144 R&D personnel, including two with master's degrees, thirty six with bachelor's degrees, among whom there are two senior engineers and eleven engineers. Since its establishment in 2006, the company has made fifty two patents, in which twenty five patents are for inventions and twenty seven are for new practical patents. Among all the patents, twenty eight have been authorized, and five are for inventions. The company also set up a dynamic research alliance with Shanghai Maritime University and Nantong University. Nantong Zhenhua boasts powerful internaational transport fleet and harbor ships, including twenty seven ocean transport carriers, seventeen harbor tugs, nineteen barges and eight floating cranes.
