Taicang was selected as one of the 36 national model counties (districts included) for accomplishments made in the state intellectual property (IP) sector.

Taicang, which has grown quickly in recent years, attaches much importance to the high-tech sector.

The past few years have seen much progress made by Taicang to facilitate its IP sector, which can be noticed from the increasing number of invention patents, granted patents, and international patents based on the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) that have occurred there. Furthermore, the city has seen more national and provincial projects that were given Chinese patent awards, and businesses that were included into national IP prominent enterprises.
