The annual Wuxi International Cherry Blossom Festival, running from March 1 to May 1 this year, had its opening ceremony on March 7 at the Yuantouzhu (Turtle Head Isle) scenic spot in Binhu district in Wuxi, Jiangsu province.

The festival's main attractions each year are 30,000 cherry trees in Turtle Head Isle, known as the paradise of cherry blossoms, with the first batch now in full bloom.

Tourists can not only enjoy the beautiful and unique scenery during the daytime but also at night. Colorful glowing lights will be able to be seen on the cherry blossoms in the evening from March 22 to April 7.

The opening ceremony briefed the audience on major upcoming activities, which include a dance show involving tourists on March 10, a warm-lit night running event on March 22 and a cosplay performance on March 23-24.

It is also worth noting that this year's event will see online activities being launched such as "the ode to cherry blossom" via Douyin, a mobile video-sharing app popular among young people, to present the beautiful scenery and exciting games during the fantastic festival.

To admire the beauty of various cherry blossoms, tourists can walk through many distinctive areas within the scenic spot, such as Cherry Blossom Valley, Changchun Bridge and Luding Mountain to enjoy the colorful and unique scenery.
