The Dangkou Cool Festival began on July 21 and will last until Sept 1. It will feature various events for visitors to escape the summer heat in Dangkou ancient town, Wuxi's Xishan district.

Visitors can take a stroll down the ice-cool block which starts just east of Guandi Temple and ends west of Laoyi village. Cool misty air is blown onto visitors, offering a bit of respite from the overbearing heat.

A series of performances will also be staged, including a folk music festival on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, a qipao show in the rainy lane at 10:30 am on Saturdays and Sundays, immersive sitcoms and traditional Chinese opera.

Tourists can also play cuju, a kind of sport in ancient China, or play in an open pool in the north parking lot.

There is also a special route for tourists to enjoy the town's colorful night scenes.
