Efforts made by Zhangjiagang Economic & Technological Development Zone (ZETDZ) to bring fun and health to elderly residents have turned out good results.

Culture and sport centers, reading rooms, gyms, chess rooms and other leisure spaces have been set up at communities for senior citizens, bringing happiness and fulfillment to them, especially those who don’t have family members around.

Interest teams for the elderly have also enriched their lives. Dance groups, aerobics teams, fan dance teams, waist drum groups and choirs have become an essential part of their life. All those teams have directors and instructors, and their fan base is becoming larger.

Art troupe volunteers also present performances for the elderly for free on a regular basis. Social workers often meet with them to learn their needs and demands so that their issues can be solved quickly.
