On Wednesday, Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. announced that National Development and Reform Commission have approved the phase II project of Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant.
So far, Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant has the largest number of generator sets in the world. It is also the first nuclear power plant with the largest energy project in the Northeast China.
China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group said that according to the written reply of NDRC, the phase II project is in the same location and adopts the same technical plan as the phase I project to construct 2 units of 1000MW pressurized water reactor nuclear power generation sets. Continuing the investment pattern of the phase I project, the phase II project will still be jointly invested by China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group Co., Ltd., China Power Investment Group Co., Ltd., and Dalian Municipal Construction Investment Co., Ltd., accounting for 45%:45%:10%. It will be constructed and operated by Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Co., Ltd.
It is expected that the investment of the phase II project is 25 billion Yuan, the first unit of generator will be put into operation in 2015, and 2 units of generator sets of the phase II project will have the capacity to generate 15 billion kWh of electricity annually. After adding 4 sets of units to the phase I project, the annual power generation of Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant will have the potential to reach 45 billion kWh.
China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group is a large state-owned clean energy enterprise with nuclear power as its main business. It is the enterprise with the largest number of nuclear power generator under construction.
