Electrical goods from Japan and South Korea have been transported Qingdao's namesake freight train across China all the way to Kazakhstan capital Almaty, according to Economic Daily.

Since the international logistics corridor, from Qingdao, Shandong province to Central Asia, came into effect last July, it has improved freight links for Chinese products. Not only this, but many companies from Japan and South Korea have made use of the service.

"The delivery expense of each container from Japan or South Korea to Almaty, along the line is around $5,000," a director from Qingdao Ocean Great Asia Logistics Co said, adding that it’s $2,000 cheaper than using the Vostochny Port, Russia.

What’s more, the journey time is a full ten days less than that of the Russian port, taking only 12 days.

The logistics corridor has two lines, according to the CRIntermodal Qingdao center, including one line from Qingdao to Almaty, Kazakhstan and Bishkek, Kyrghyzstan, through the Alataw Pass, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and the other from Qingdao to Samarkand and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and Ashkhabad, Turkmenistan through Khorgos, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

The Qingdao-Central Asia railroad, as well as the future China-Europe railroad will become main arteries along the Silk Road Economic Belt and between Asia and Europe.
