CCTV crews recently finished shooting, “Happy China Tour – Charming Qingyuan,” an entertainment show capturing the culture, history and tourism attractions of the prefecture-level city in Guangdong province. The 120-minute show was filmed in Beijing before a “l(fā)ive” audience of more than 600 people.
The program will be broadcasted in June on the Happy China Tour program on CCTV Channel 3 (variety show channel) and on the Travel through China program on CCTV Channel 4 (Chinese language channel).
Wang Dekun, vice-mayor of Qingyuan, said Qingyuan and CCTV Happy China Tour program team agreed to promote Qingyuan on the popular show. Zhang Lei, a famous CCTV program host, introduced the program on Qingyuan, which means Phoenix City.
In-studio performances were intertwined with video clips shot in Qingyuan’s Lianshan Eagle Flight Pass, Fu’an virgin forests, and Liannan, the 1,000-year-old fortress of the Yao ethnic group. Members of the audience were presented with for good luck and city maps. Audience members also were able to sample food products brought to Beijing by Qingyuan businesses.
The show features celebrities praising Qingyuan. The vocal duo Top Combine sang: “Qingyuan is famous for rafting. Qingyuan chickens are so delicious. We hope we have the chance to put on a show in Qingyuan.”
Singers Fu Disheng and Ren Jing, who performed on the program, said, “We’ve found Qingyuan is a fascinating city through this program. We wish to have the chance to go and see it.”
