Shanghai's Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital (EHSH) is moving to a new site in Anting town, Jiading district, and will start operation on Oct 18.
The new hospital, with an area of 400 mu (27 hectares), is designed to have a bed capacity of 1,500. In addition to a building for out-patient and emergency departments, it also includes a medical technology building, an inpatient building, and an office building.

According to its manager, the operation room is a highlight of the hospital. It has six advanced operation rooms, which adopt air purifying technology to combat microbial contamination. It also houses many high-level medical facilities such as the world leading X-ray computer tomography system and the fifth-generation Cyberknife system.
As an affiliated hospital to Shanghai's Second Military Medical University, the EHSH has many medical experts and will recruit more when it moves to Anting. The relocation can thus be regarded as an opportunity for the hospital to upgrade from a specialist hospital into a general one. It will continue to work on translational medicine and high-precision medical treatment, the manager added.
