Recent warmer temperatures have enlivened outdoor activities at the Sheshan National Tourist Resort, inspiring 50 families to enjoy a hiking challenge over the weekend in this natural oxygen bar in Shanghai on Dec 17.

This family hiking challenge was also an intellectual orienteering exercise. The organizer set Sheshan's iconic landmarks as stops for each family to answer questions about basic historical knowledge of Sheshan.

Participants couldn't go on to the next round of hiking if they didn't have the correct answer at the stops.

The last stop was designated at the top of East Sheshan Mountain. Children needed to create a painting with leaves describing the mountain from its perspective, which also became a gift for their parents.

This year's family hiking challenge also revealed Shanghai residents' increasing demand for outdoor family activities in winter, and Sheshan plans to take the advantage to provide more leisure and entertainment opportunities for visitors in winter.
