Shanxi Synthetic Rubber Group Co., Ltd. is a large-scale State-owned enterprise affiliated to the largest domestic chemical group -- ChemChina Group. Based in Datong of Shanxi province, it covers an area of 1.97 sq km with 2950 staff members. The group is mainly engaged in the operation of chloroprene rubber products (CR) and supporting products such as caustic soda and liquid chlorine. The present production capacity of the dominant CR products is 55,000 t/y. It is now the largest production base of CR in China.

The company was constructed in 1960 and began operating in 1965. It was restructured into Shanxi Synthetic Rubber Group Co., Ltd in 1997. In 2002, it was under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Datong. In January 2003, it was put under China National BlueStar (Group) Co., Ltd. in the form of asset restructuring. For many years the company has depended on the geological advantages, an abundant of coal, electricity and limestone in Datong, convenient transportation routes, applied calcium carbide-acetylene approach to produce CR and constantly strengthened the growth of the main operation with competitive low costs. In May 2010, Shanna Synthetic Rubber Co., Ltd. jointly funded by the company and the Armenia-based Nairit was completed and put into production. The enterprise successfully passed the ISO9001:2000 Quality Certification in 2001; passed the SHEQ certification of "quality, environment and vocational health and security" in 2005; was appraised to be one of the first groups of "high-tech enterprises" of Shanxi in 2007. In 2008, the "Reclining Tiger" CR was awarded with the title of "Shanxi landmark famous-brand product". The company also received the honorary reputation of AAA quality and credibility in Shanxi province. At present, the domestic market share of CR products of the company has reached more than 37 percent. Products are sold in 38 countries and regions.

After more than 50 years of development, the company not only employs CR experts with experience and competence in production, design and development of the product but also has introduced mature production processes and exclusive technologies from Nairit. Depending on the technical strength and internationalized management platform of new chemical materials with the support of ChemChina and China National BlueStar (Group) Co., Ltd., the company has continuously enhanced its managerial level and research and development strengths. In 2009, it completed the product research and development center of international standards and created excellent conditions to improve production technology, boost product quality and increase technical reserves.
